About Dallas Higher Learning

Dallas Higher Learning  is a public school in the Dallas Independent School District serving North Dallas students in grades 9-12. The school, named in honor of the Dallas school superintendent who served from 1946 to 1968, is located in North Dallas about a mile southwest of the Interstate 635 (LBJ Freeway) and Dallas North Tollway intersection. Parts of North Dallas are zoned to Dallas Higher Learning, as well as sections of Addison, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch.

Higher Learning features high academic standards, a diverse student body, and a well-rounded program of educational and extracurricular activities. Several curriculum academies are available for students. The Academy of Business and Marketing, Academy of Engineering, and the Academy of Information Technology and Academy of Theatre Arts accept all interested students. The Pathway for Visual and Performing Arts requires all students to audition or submit a portfolio for consideration.

The Pathway for Visual and Performing Arts includes band, choir, dance, orchestra, and visual arts; including ceramics.

Higher Learning graduates have been admitted to MIT, Harvard, Notre Dame, Stanford, Rice, UNC Chapel Hill, Carnegie Mellon, University of Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A & M, Baylor, SMU, TCU, and both Naval and Air Force Academies, to name a few of the many outstanding colleges and universities.

The total scholarships and grants awarded for the graduating class of 2013 was more than $9.3 million and includes recipients of the Gates Millennium and Dell scholarships; including appointments to both the Naval and Air Force Academies.

The Dallas Higher Learning mission and motto speak to the high expectations we hold for all students.
